Effects of different dietary oil sources on growth performance, antioxidant capacity and lipid deposition of juvenile golden pompano Trachinotus ovatus

Vegetable oils (VO) that are used to substitute fish oil in aquafeeds may affect, not only the fatty acid composition, but also lipid metabolism and distribution. The present study was designed investigate this issue juvenile golden pompano Trachinotus ovatus fed eight diets formulated with typical VO widely varying compositions including coconut (CO), palm (PO), oil-tea camellia seed (OTO), olive (OO), canola (CNO), peanut (PNO), linseed (LO) perilla (PFO), comparison (FO). After 8-week feeding trial, CO diet had highest growth performance, higher general antioxidant capacities serum liver than other VO. crude content whole body expression levels of fas were lower FO, PFO LO diets, while contents scd OTO PNO diets. Other diet, total FO OO genes involved catabolism transport, namely ppar?, cpt1 apoB100, Comparing tissues showed 18:1n-9, 18:3n-3 (ALA) 22:6n-3 (DHA) preferentially deposited pompano, DHA polar lipids rather neutral lipids. However, excessive dietary ALA did lead increased deposition ALA, content. sources significant influences on performance capacity, as well deposition. Low high n-3 long-chain polyunsaturated acids an appropriate ratio ALA/LNA (18,2n-6) could reduce tissues, especially liver.
